FLOWERS: A chart is available for anyone who would like to donate a bouquet of flowers for a special occasion, in honor of or in memory of family and friends. The bouquets are made up by Flowers And, the cost start at $30. Please sign up for a bouquet to help make our Church look summery and nice.

THANKS: We thank all those who attended and contributed all the fine dishes and monetary donations to the SS Peter & Paul Feast Day Social last Saturday and hope you all had an enjoyable time. Lots of good food, friendship and conversation were provided to all who attended. May our Patron Saints bless us with good health.

LUC: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 70 Zerby Avenue, Edwardsville, extends a warm invitation to a beautiful Prayer Service – Moleben to Our Blessed Mother – on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 3:00pm to be followed by a church sponsored meeting and fellowship of our North Anthracite Council of the League of Ukrainian Catholics (LUC).  This is a public event of St. Vladimir Parish to which all parishioners and friends are welcome.

ALTAR CANDLES: The Altar Candles will burn for all services in the month of July by a Relative Parishioner in memory of Hayson, Hennesssey, Porter, Slabinski and Stadulis Families.

FLEA MARKET AND RUMMAGE SALE: This sale will be held in our Church Hall in October. If you wish to contribute any items such as household, dishes, pots, pans, linens, bedding, blankets and many more articles useful to be sold and in good condition please bring to the church or contact one of the members of the Women’s Society.

Remember the SS Peter & Paul Feast day social will be held after the 4:00 PM Divine Liturgy today, July 2nd in the Church Hall. Let us make this a nice outing for all our Parish Family. Come and enjoy a few hours.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

Independence Day honors the birthday of the United States of America and the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It’s a day of picnics and patriotic parades, a night of concerts and fireworks, and a reason to fly the
American flag.
Drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is at once the nation’s most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson’s most enduring monument. Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases, Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people. The political philosophy of the Declaration was not new; its ideals of individual liberty had already been expressed by John Locke and the Continental philosophers. What Jefferson did was to summarize this philosophy in “self-evident truths” and set forth a list of grievances against the King in order to justify before the world the breaking of ties between the colonies and the mother country.
