In commemoration of the anniversary they are sponsoring a Fundraiser: “Favorite Recipes from our Best Cooks” Cookbooks. The Hardcover Set of Cookbooks (volume I&I) are $25.00(set) (complied by the Sisterhood of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church) Single hardcover volume is $15.00 each. ST. MARY’S BYZANTINE CATHOLIC Church of Scranton, Pa is sponsoring *St. Mary’s International Dinner Club featuring “Christmas Around the World” on Thursday Dec. 13, 2012. It will be held at St, Mary’s Center, 320 Mifflin Ave, Scranton, Pa. There are two sittings (5:30p.m. & 6:30 p.m.) The price is $24.95 per person/ticket. RUMMAGE SALE: The Women’s Society wishes to thank all those who donated items, food and baked Desserts for the success of the Rummage Sale. The two dates that the sale ran earned $2,440.49. Bills for the Ad’s in the papers must be paid from this total. It is a lot of work and most of it was done by Anna Magill and some of her family with the setting up and collecting stuff to be sold. The proceeds will be used for projects needed in our Parish.

MALANKA – Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Ukrainian New Year 9th Annual Dinner Dance –is scheduled for Friday evening, January 11, 2013 from 6:00pm to 1:00am at St. Vladimir Parish Center, Scranton. The festive evening will include a generous Ukrainian and American dinner buffet catered by Paul Wanas of Accentuate Caterers, cash bar, complimentary bubbly toast and dancing to the internationally known Ukrainian orchestra “Fata Morgana”. Attractive door prizes will also be awarded.

The Parish Finance and Pastoral councils, catechists and any active members of the parish are invited to attend.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: We extend our Birthday Greetings for God’s Blessings on Anna Bosack who is celebrating her 90th Birthday on Nov. 14th.

PYROHY PROJECT: A Pyrohy Project will be held on December 3 & 4th. An order sheet is in the vestibule or you may call Ann 829-4202 or Ron 779-4407 to place your order. Please order as soon as possible as the cut off date will be November 25th. The Pyrohys are $7 a dozen. Help is definitely needed so please if you can help with this project for your church come and lend a hand. There is a job for everyone.

PIE SALE: Transfiguration of Our Lord Church in Nanticoke is selling homemade pies in time for Thanksgiving. The prices are: apple (double crusted) – $12.00, lemon crumb – $12.00, and pumpkin – $10.00. Pies must be preordered and will be ready for pick-up on Friday, November 16th in the church hall or after each liturgy on Saturday, November 17th and Sunday, November 18th. Please contact Jill Gagliardi at 824-4603 to order and for more information. Deadline for ordering is Tuesday, November 13th.

MEETING: The meeting on Wednesday, November 7th for the two Parishes – SS Peter & Paul, Plymouth and Transfiguration, Nanticoke was conducted and the Council of Transfiguration is requesting an increase in the amount paid for the Rectory Utilities. This was discussed and a letter to the Bishop must be presented to him for his permission to have this amount raised. Our Parish Council will meet in conjunction with the Women’s Society Meeting this coming Tuesday, November 13th in the Church Hall at 6:30 to discuss this matter. All members are urged to attend.

PHILLIP FAST: Beginning Nov. 14th Phillip Fast will begin. Remember to keep holy this season before Christmas. Please try to remember to go to confession for Christmas. This fast is until Christmas Day.

WOMEN’S SOCIETY SALE: The Women’s Society Rummage Sale will be held
again on Friday, November the 9th. New and used items are still being taken for this sale. If you have any items to donate, please bring them to the church or hall this week. The sale will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
