WELCOME: Please welcome Monsignor Peter Waslo, Chancellor of the Archeparchy of Philadelphia who is substituting for Father Roman Saturday and Sunday of the week. Father Roman will be on vacation and if there will be any great emergencies only please contact Ann Beshada at 829-4202 and she will contact Rev. Orest Kunderevych.

CLEAN UP: Father Roman is asking that anyone, men and women, who are available to do some clean up of overgrown weeds, etc, in the areas of the property to come and lend a hand on Friday September 10th at a time to be announced.

FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTIONS: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, 70 Zerby Avenue, Edwardsville, Pa. will host the Knights of Columbus, Luzerne Council 3987 for a first Friday Devotion on Friday September 3, 2010 at 8:30 AM. The rosary will be recited first by the Knights and their Ladies, followed by Divine Liturgy by Rev. Orest Kunderevych. You are invited to attend. Please come and participate, we would love to have you in our midst. Pray for church unity. Thank you!

RUMMAGE SALE: Anna Magill announced that the annual Women’s Society Rummage Sale would be held in our church hall on Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2. If you have any household items, clothes, small furniture or anything that is usable and can be used for this sale, please bring them to the church or to the hall. If you need help in delivering items contact one of the Women’s Club members and arrangements can be made to accommodate you.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING: The monthly meeting of the Church Council will be held on Thursday, September 9th in the Church Hall at 6:30 PM. All members are urged to attend this meeting.

LUC MEETING: North Anthracite Council – League of Ukrainian Catholics will meet on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Ezzyk’s Farm in Berwick. Moleben “under the trees” at 2:00 PM business session at 2:30 PM followed by annual summer picnic. This is a family-oriented event in the beautiful mountains of Berwick – all are invited. Come enjoy an afternoon of spiritual and social well being including a generous buffet and Ezzyk’s famous sweet corn. TRIP TO SLOATSBURG: The bus will leave Edwardsville at 6:30 AM for the Pilgrimage to Sloatsburg on Sunday, August 15th.

ALTAR CANDLES: The Altar Candles to burn for the month of August is requested by Helen Youells in memory of all deceased members of the Youells Family.

A COAL MINER’S TALE: A premiere presentation of A Coal Miner’s Tale, composed and written by Patrick J. Marcinko will be held on Sunday, August 15th at 4:00 Pm at the Mellow Theatre, Lackawanna College in Scranton. Information and free tickets are available at 570-955-1455

CEMETERY BOOKS: Another 10 books have been sold and we received the next shipment.
