CONCEPTION BY ST. ANN WHEN SHE CONCEIVED THE MOST HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
December 8
Against all hope, the bonds of barrenness are loosed. For, God has hearkened unto Joachim and Anna clearly promising that they would bear a godly maiden. He who commanded the angel to cry out to her, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you,” will be born of her, the infinite One Himself, becoming man.
According to the ancient tradition of the Church, since Saint Anna, the Ancestor of God, was barren, she and her husband Joachim remained without children until old age. Therefore, sorrowing over their childlessness, they besought God with a promise that, if He were to grant them the fruit of the womb, they would offer their offspring to Him as a gift. And God, hearkening to their supplication, informed them through an Angel concerning the birth of the Virgin. And thus, through God’s promise, Anna conceived according to the laws of nature, and was deemed worthy to become the mother of the Mother of our Lord.

The Real Meaning of Christmas
Two thousand years ago the King of Kings was born.
‘The Lamb of God’ later made to feel the thorn,
If his words are accepted and not scorned,
They will make us all reborn.

Though God’s grace, Joseph and Mary presented
A gift to the world that day, which we can all repay,
by living the ten commandments each and every day.

Try to remember and keep in your heart and mind
Jesus’ gospel while here on Earth,
Redemption not a life lived in constant mirth.
Peace on Earth, good will toward man
Everyone should try it, whenever they can.

The Lord gave us the option and choice of ‘free will,’
Now it’s up to us to fit the bill.

So when you’re Christmas shopping for family and friends,
and money is tight at both ends,
Remember that the greatest gift of all,
Is your love of Jesus in the manger stall.

ALTAR CANDLES: The Altar Candles that will burn on all services for the month of December is requested by Albert Piston in memory of Parents Michael & Jennie Piston.

CONFESSIONS: Father Volodymyr invites you to go to Confession for the Holy Season. Father is available before Divine Liturgies on Saturday and Sundays. If you want to go to confession please stand near the confessional.

A Special thanks to Walter Glogowski for the delicious soup he made to serve us for lunch.
