Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant, Pa (near Scranton) is sponsoring a fund raiser……”The 3rd Annual Hometown Bake Sale”. It will be held two days: Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday November 18, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 135 River Street, Olyphant, Pa (the School Gym). Additional fund raiser items: The Cookbooks “Favorite Recipes from our Best Cooks” Volume I and Volume II are available for $25.00 (set). The Choir will have available their Christmas CD for $15.00 and the Divine Liturgy DVD for $20.00. Orders will be taken for the Embroidered Placket Polo Shirt with “Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church” with the Byzantine Catholic 3-bar Cross from $12.00 to $18.00 each. A count on the attendance of Saturday and Sunday Divine Liturgies during the month of November is requested by the Archbishop’s Chancery.
The count for Saturday, November 3rd 44 – Sunday, November 4th – 15.

SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week Nov. 10 – 17 by Becky Molecavage in memory of Dimitri Bencho.

FLOWERS: Our thanks to Becky Molecavage for the donation of flowers this week in memory of Dimitri Bencho Birthday.

PLANNING COMMITTE MEETING: The 20/20 Planning Committee for the Archeparchy will conduct a meeting in Transfiguration of Our Lord Church in Nanticoke, PA next Saturday, November 17th at 10:00 AM for the southern part of this deanery. The Parish Finance and Pastoral councils, catechists and any active members of the parish are invited to attend.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: We extend our Birthday Greetings for God’s Blessings on Anna Bosack who is celebrating her 90th Birthday on Nov. 14th.

PYROHY PROJECT: A Pyrohy Project will be held on December 3 & 4th. An order sheet is in the vestibule or you may call Ann 829-4202 or Ron 779-4407 to place your order. Please order as soon as possible as the cut off date will be November 25th. The Pyrohys are $7 a dozen. Help is definitely needed so please if you can help with this project for your church come and lend a hand. There is a job for everyone.

PIE SALE: Transfiguration of Our Lord Church in Nanticoke is selling homemade pies in time for Thanksgiving. The prices are: apple (double crusted) – $12.00, lemon crumb – $12.00, and pumpkin – $10.00. Pies must be preordered and will be ready for pick-up on Friday, November 16th in the church hall or after each liturgy on Saturday, November 17th and Sunday, November 18th. Please contact Jill Gagliardi at 824-4603 to order and for more information. Deadline for ordering is Tuesday, November 13th.

MEETING: The meeting on Wednesday, November 7th for the two Parishes – SS Peter & Paul, Plymouth and Transfiguration, Nanticoke was conducted and the Council of Transfiguration is requesting an increase in the amount paid for the Rectory Utilities. This was discussed and a letter to the Bishop must be presented to him for his permission to have this amount raised. Our Parish Council will meet in conjunction with the Women’s Society Meeting this coming Tuesday, November 13th in the Church Hall at 6:30 to discuss this matter. All members are urged to attend.

PHILLIP FAST: Beginning Nov. 14th Phillip Fast will begin. Remember to keep holy this season before Christmas. Please try to remember to go to confession for Christmas. This fast is until Christmas Day.
