PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION: This week the Peter’s Pence collection will be taken, which provides the Holy Father with the assistance he needs to carry out his most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Through your generosity, with Pope Benedict we can cast the love of Christ upon the world.
SANCTUARY LIGHT: The week of June 26 – July 3 is requested by George Pryslak Family in memory of John & Mary Pryslak..
FLOWERS: We would like to thank Rose Sivick for her donation of 2 bouquets this week in memory of the deceased member of the Sivick Family and Anna Magill for her donation of 1 bouquet in memory of Donald Magill.
PRAYERS: Please remember Mrs. Anna Dempsey in your prayers. She had a fall at home and broke her hip. She is now in rehabilitation at John Heinz.
SS PETER & PAUL FEAST DAY: On the 29th of June our Eastern Church celebrates with great solemnity the feast, which in our liturgical books is called “The Holy Illustrious and Ever-praised Major Apostles, Peter & Paul.” Both Apostles are distinguished for their character, their zealous apostolic labors and their great cult in holy Church. We owe to the Holy Apostles the priceless treasure of the Christian faith. They handed Christ’s teachings down to us. From them, we received the Holy Gospels and the letters of the Apostles. They laid a firm foundation for the Church of Christ. This is a Holy Day of Obligation and Liturgy is Tuesday, June 29th at 10:00 AM. Please attend this Liturgy, as it is the namesake of our Parish.
PILGRIMAGE: A Pilgrimage to Sloatsburg, NY for a day of Prayer, Healing Service, Stations of the Cross, Moleben to the Mother of God and more spiritual services is being sponsored by the League of Ukrainian Catholics on Sunday, August 15th. A 29-passenger bus will be available for anyone interested in attending this beautiful day of worship. The cost for the bus is $25. If you would like to join this group, please contact Ann Beshada. Reservations are limited.
CEMETERY BOOK: Did you know that a Cemetery Survey of the SS Peter & Paul UC Church Cemetery, Plymouth, Luzerne County, PA has now been published? The book is 178 pages and includes a DVD of photographs of over 1000 gravestones in the cemetery. Copies of deeds, engineers plot map, alphabetical lists of gravestones cross-referenced to location and to the photographs on the DVD, alphabetized church burial records are included.
