LUC MEETING – North Anthracite Council – League of Ukrainian Catholics will meet on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, 240 Center Street, Hanover Section of Nanticoke PA. General session at 1:45 PM – will focus on planning the April 3rd Ukrainian Cultural Exhibit and Craft Sale. UKRAINIAN CULTURAL EXHIBIT AND CRAFT SALE: The North Anthracite League of Ukrainian Catholics will sponsor their annual Ukrainian Cultural Exhibit and Craft Sale on Sunday, April 3, 2011 – 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM in SS Peter and Paul, Ukrainian Catholic Church Hal, Plymouth, PA. If you are interested in reserving a table for your crafts, etc. the cost per table is $20 – please contact Janina Everett at 570-759-2824 or cell 570-441-9593. Lunch will be available with variety of homemade ethnic food and baked goods.

MYASOPUSNA: This year’s Myasopusna (Meatfare) Celebration will be held at Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall (Nanticoke) on Sunday, February 27, 2011, from noon to 4:00 PM. Dinner will be served from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. Tickets are $12 and can be reserved by calling Gerry Adamchak 824-3880 and Helen Lipowski at 735-4654. PORK & KAPUSTA DINNER: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Scranton, will sponsor their annual observance of Meatfare Sunday, at their annual Pre-Lenten PORK & KAPUSTA FAMILY DINNER. Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 12:30 p.m., at the Parish Center, 428 N. 7th Ave., Scranton, Adults $11; Students $5.50 (age 5-12); Under age 5: free. Advance reservations please: call Kathleen Izak at 346-2414 (please do not call the church). Takeout’s: between 11:30a.m.- 12:15 p.m. Menu: Slow roasted pork loin, homemade pan gravy, kapusta (cabbage), real mashed potatoes, green & yellow beans, applesauce, rolls, butter, dessert, coffee, tea, beverages. FORGIVENESS SUNDAY: You are cordially invited to attend the beautiful service for Forgiveness Sunday Vespers on March 6, 2011 at SS Cyril & Methodius, U.C.C. in Berwick, PA. Services will begin at 5:00 PM and a Friendship Social will follow. All parishes are invited.

SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week
February 19 – 26 by Charles Drazba & Family in memory of Marie Drazba.

FLOWERS: Flowers this week are donated by Ann Beshada in memory of Parents Mary and John Conniff, sisters and brothers.

ALTAR CANDLES: The month of August is still available for intentions. At your request the Altar Candles burn at all Church Service for the month requested. The $40 cost is for the month you request – deceased, in honor of or any special occasion
COUNCIL MEETING: The regular monthly meeting of the Parish Council will be held Tuesday, February 22nd – 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. All members are urged to please attend.

SOROKOSTY: Please remember your loved ones in the Sorokousty services. Place your envelopes in the collection and those requested will be in prayer at the Lenten Services. Sorokousty services are special prayers offered for the deceased during the Great Fast.

PIGGIE DINNER: Tickets are available for our Parish Piggie Dinner to be held on Thursday, March 24th, serving from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and take outs from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Dinner will include 2 Piggies, Mashed Potatoes, vegetable, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8.00 per adult and $4.00 for children 12 and under. A Chinese auction will be conducted. Any donations toward this affair would be greatly appreciated. Gifts for the Chinese Auction are needed.

CEMETERY BOOKS: The cemetery books for our parish Cemetery are still available. Isn’t there anyone in the parish interested in purchasing one of these fine informative books? Gloria Dran Elston devoted a lot of time and travel to put this book together. We have had many out of town persons who purchased the book. If you are interested please contact the office or take one from the vestibule and place the $30 in an envelope and drop in the collection basket.
