COUNCIL MEETING: A Parish Council meeting will be held on Thursday, December 17. 2015 6:00 PM . The meeting is important and all parishioners are welcome to attend. The nomination of Council members for 2016 will be held. New members are urged to volunteer their services to be on the Parish Council. Please come and participate in this meeting.
SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week Nov.14-21 by Geri Kolotelo in memory of her parents Louis and Anna Kolotelo.\
PYROHY PROJECT: An order sheet is in the vestibule for orders of Pyrohys. Dates to be Monday, Nov. 30; 10:00 AM to prepare the potatoes – Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8:00 AM for the preparation of the Pyrohys. Hopefully we will have enough help to produce this great food. PLEASE, if you could possibly give a hand to come and help – DO SO. We could use all the help that is available. The Pyrohy’s will sell for $7 a dozen and the orders will be limited to 400 doz.
Future plans: it was discussed at the Women’s Society meeting whether to plan for a Ukrainian Christmas Eve Supper. The event is usually held on the Sunday nearest the January 7 date which would be Sunday, January 3, 2016. This supper has been successful for the past few years. If you are interested in continuing with this traditional event please try to cooperate by signing the chart in the vestibule. A meatless dish is provided by the parishioners and the Fish & Pyrohys are supplied by the Church funds. We cannot further the plans if we do not get enough parishioners interested. Please try to make an effort to keep this event alive.
The Preparatory Season for the Nativity of Our Lord -– Phillip’s Fast, Starts this Monday November 16, Nativity Fast, Byzantine Advent – terms designating the 40 day preparation period before the Christmas / Theophany season. It begins at sundown on November 16th (when the Church begins a new day) and concludes at Christmas. Please remember to– Pray, Fast, live well, and give alms during this time.
