WE HONOR

  WE REMEMBER

REMEMBERING WITH GRATITUDE

AND PRIDE

ALL THOSE WHO SERVED

TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY

PRAYER FOR DECEASED AMERICAN VETERANS

To be recited on Memorial Day

O God who has said: “Greater love than this no man has, that a man lay down his life for his brethren,” have mercy on those whom we remember today: those who laid down their lives in behalf of our beloved country, especially those who among their number have shared with us the True Faith. You did call them to risk, and even lose their lives, for the safety of their brethren, so now preserve them from those terrible torments which await those who die in anger, or whom death surprises unprepared for that solemn moment. Teach us all the folly of war and the need to pray and sacrifice for peace among the nations by the return of sinners to You. May Our Divine Savior, the Prince of Peace, teach us the lesson of His Gospel and preserve us all from the horrors of war, and through His Most Pure Mother, the Queen of Heaven, may we all journey safely to our heavenly homeland.  Amen.
