SING ALONG: SS Peter and Paul, U.C.C., Wilkes-Barre, PA invites you to their 17th annual Christmas Carol Sing-Along – Sunday, December 12, 2010, 2:00 PM at 635 North River Street, Wilke-Barre, PA. They ask you to join them in singing Christmas Carols in Ukrainian and English.

The Holy Day: Conception of St. Anna according to the Archeparchy is celebrated on December 9th instead of December 8th.

SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn the week of Dec.4 – 12 by Albert Piston in memory of his father Michael Piston.
ALTAR CANDLES: The Altar Candles are requested to burn for the month of December by Rose Sivick in memory of all deceased members of the Sivick Family.

PYROHY PROJECT: We wish to thank all the faithful who came out to help with our Pyrohy Project. It is always good to have a get together to produce a product as good as our Pyrohy’s. A special thanks to the few, who are not parishioners, who gave their time to help us. 588 dozen of Pyrohy’s were made. If you would like to purchase any, they are frozen and we have a few dozen for sale at $6 a dozen. See someone after the Divine Liturgy on Saturday or Sunday.

HOLY SUPPER: If you would be interested in joining with your Parish Family for a Holy Supper on January 6th in our Church Hall, for the occasion of Ukrainian Christmas Eve, please sign in on the sheet in the vestibule. Only a few have signed up to attend so please do not wait if you can possibly be in attendance. This is opened to all parishioners and families. No cost will be asked only a little help in the preparation and the food donations. This could be a happy occasion to be together for a Ukrainian holy day.

THANKS: We wish to thank all those who participated in our Lottery ticket sales for the month of November. We especially thank Mike and Dolores Sinko for manning this project and to all those who purchased and sold tickets. God’s Blessings.

ALTAR CANDLES CHART: A new chart for the Altar candles is available for your requests. The Altar Candles will burn at all services for the month for $40. You may request for a special occasion, deceased member or member of you family or any desire you would like to have remembered. Fill in the chart and deposit the envelope in the collection for credit to your alms giving’s.

SPECIAL COLLECTION: Every Saturday & Sunday in December the Second collection will be for the charitable collection of our Synod of Bishops, known as “Andrew’s Pence”. To that effect our Church is collecting funds especially “Towards Sustaining Exarchates in Eastern Ukraine and Clergy living in Territories without Official Church Structures.” Please make your donations either on a plain envelope or in the loose collection. C., Wilkes-Barre will hold their 11th annual TURKEY-FEST on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, in the school hall, corner of North River and West Chestnut Streets, Wilkes-Barre. This event will feature a traditional turkey dinner, afghan raffle and Basket Auction/Raffle.

NEW FURNACE: A new furnace will be installed at the earliest convenience. Sorry we have to suffer a little cold until this is completed but just remember how our Lord suffered for us. By next weekend the furnace should be installed.

Anyone can help to form this affair and bring our Parish Family together with such a nice tradition. No tickets will be sold and this is for all parishioners. Please try to help plan this Holy Supper.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES: This October the Archbishop Stefan Soroka invites all married couples to join in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on October 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia. This celebration will afford you to say once again: “Yes…I do…I love you and always will” to your spouses and to God. They ask for your support through prayers for all our married faithful and your participation in this celebration of Marriage. There will be a banquet following in the Cathedral Hall where there will be the sounds of music and dancing, and love celebrated in good food, good fellowship and God’s joyful presence. Reservations are available if you are interested in attending this celebration. The cost is $30 per Anniversary Couple and $20 Per Guest. Deadline for registration is October 5, 2010.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Cross Valley Religious Education begins its 2010-2011 school year on Saturday, October 30th. The religious education program meets on Saturday mornings, from 9:30 to 11:30, in the school building at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 635 North River Street, in Wilkes-Barre. The schedule for this school year is being mailed to current families and newly enrolling families. Our religious education program is for students in grades one through eight. Older students are also encouraged to attend and assist with activities, when possible.

CEMETERY BOOKS: Our cemetery books are still available in the vestibule. If you would like to purchase one, the cost is $30. This book was a lot of research for Gloria Dran Elston who did so much to make this available to you. Gloria will be in our church for a visit on the weekend of Oct. 9/10, if you would like to speak to her about the book.

PRAY THE ROSARY: Before the 4:00 PM Divine Liturgy for the month of October the Rosary to the Blessed Mother will be recited. All Parishioners should please join in with the responses.

CLAM CHOWDER SALE: St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Main St., Glen Lyon, is holding a Clam Chowder & Halushki Sale on Friday, November 12, 2010 between 11am & 5pm. The price of the clam chowder is $7.00 a quart & the halushki is $5.00 a quart. A bake sale will also be held during this time in the church hall.
