FORGIVENESS SUNDAY: Please try to attend the Forgiveness Vespers this Sunday, March 6, 2011 at SS Cyril & Methodius, U.C.C. in Berwick, PA at 5:00 PM. All parishes are invited to attend this beautiful service. Friendship Social will follow.
LUC MEETING – North Anthracite Council – League of Ukrainian Catholics will meet Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Holy Transfiguration, U.C.C, 240 Center Street, Nanticoke PA. Meeting will convene at 1:45 PM – plans for the April 3rd Ukrainian Cultural Exhibit and Craft Sale will be discussed. The Way of the Cross – is scheduled for 4:00 PM followed by fellowship and refreshments.
UKRAINIAN CULTURAL EXHIBIT AND CRAFT SALE: The North Anthracite League of Ukrainian Catholics will sponsor their annual Ukrainian Cultural Exhibit and Craft Sale on Sunday, April 3, 2011 – 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM in SS Peter and Paul, Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, Plymouth, PA. If you are interested in reserving a table for your crafts, etc. the cost per table is $20 – please contact Janina Everett at 570-759-2824 or cell 570-441-9593. Lunch will be available with variety of homemade ethnic food and baked goods
LENTEN DINNERS: Transfiguration of Our Lord Church is sponsoring Lenten Dinners every Friday during Lent in the Church Hall. The dinners will be held from 4:00-7:00 and will feature a different menu each Friday.
The schedule of dinner entrees is:
March 11 – Spaghetti with your choice of marinara or scampi sauce
March 18 – Fish Friday – baked or fried.
March 25 – Heavenly Halushki
April 1 – Mac N’ Cheese or Baked Ziti.
April 8 – Pierogi Potluck.
April 15 – Potato Pancakes.
All meals include 2 sides, beverage, and dessert.
The cost is $6.00 per meal or $30.00 for all 6 meals purchased in advance. Take out dinners are $6.00 each and do not include beverage. Take out soups and sides will also be available for purchase. For more information contact Jill at 824-4603 or Transfiguration rectory at 735-2262.
LENTEN AFTERNOON OF REFLECTION: On Sunday March 13, 2011 the Sister of St. Basil The Great will present a Lenten Afternoon of Reflection at the Basilian Spiritual Center,7710 Fox Chase Road, Fox Chase Manor, PA from 2:00-5:00 PM. Presenter is Archpriest Daniel Troyan. The Topic: “Be Still and Know that I am God.”
A celebration of the Priceless Human Soul. A day of meditation, forgiveness and healing based upon the Prayer of St. Ephraim: Donation is $25 and registration must be made by March 7, 2011. Forms for registration can be obtained if you are interested.
SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week

PIGGIE DINNER: Tickets are available for our Parish Piggie Dinner to be held on Thursday, March 24th, serving from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and take outs from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Dinner will include 2 Piggies, Mashed Potatoes, vegetable, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8.00 per adult and $4.00 for children 12 and under. A Chinese auction will be conducted. Any donations toward this affair would be greatly appreciated. Gifts for the Chinese Auction are needed.

WOMEN’S SOCIETY: The monthly meeting of the Women’s Society will convene Tuesday, March 8th at 6:30 PM in the church hall. All members are urged to attend. This is the first meeting after the winter recess.
MOSAIC ART: The Parish Council is planning to have Glass Mosaic’s of SS Peter and Paul installed on the Niches in the front of our Church by Baut Studios, with the stipulation of permission from the Metropolitan Stephan Soroka. We will welcome your support for this project.
BUILDING/IMPROVEMENT FUND: A donation of $70 was received from Gloria Dran Elston to our Building/Improvement Fund in memory of her parents Fred and Mary Dran. Our thanks for this donation.
PYROHY SALE: A Pyrohy Project will be held on April 11, 12th. The Pyrohys will be $7.00 a dozen. Help will be needed for this project. Please try to give your time and help to make this possible. Orders are limited, so place your orders early. The sheet for the orders is in the vestibule.
