So Please approach the priest as close as you can.

Never Forget
In Memory Of 9-11-01
Never Forget
I’ll never forget that awful day
When our world turned upside down
The stunning blow that shook us all
It could happen in any town.
Our lives are changed forever
Caution leads the way
We’re wary now and careful
No, we shall never forget that day.
We used to be so impatient
As we hurried from place to place
But now we patiently wait our turn
With a smile upon our face.
We’ll never forget those we lost
In our hearts they will remain
They sacrificed for all of us
And they did not die in vain.
So never forget that awful day
And how it changed us all
Coming together with care and love
One nation…standing proud and tall.

The Feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God
September 8th

The Church does not have the custom of celebrating the earthly birthday of the Saints of God, but rather celebrates their heavenly birthday, that is, the day of their death, which, for them, is the beginning of eternal life. She does make exception, however, for the two greatest Saints in the Church – the most Pure Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist. We celebrate not only their heavenly birth, but also their birth on earth.
One of the great feasts we celebrate at the beginning of the Liturgical Year is the feast of the Nativity of the most Holy Mother of God (Theotokos). As is evident from the words of the troparion on this festival, it is a joyful and significant feast. It is joyful because it is the birthday of the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and earth. It is significant because it places before our eyes the great truth of our holy faith concerning the Divine Motherhood of the most Pure Virgin Mary, from whom “shone forth the Sun of Justice, Christ our God.”
The birth of Mary, who was to become the Mother of God, was a singular source of joy for her parents – Joachim and Anna, for heaven, for earth, and for all creation. The spiritual joy occasioned by this feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God has been stressed by various Fathers of the Church.
The day following the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Church honors the memory of the “Holy and Righteous Ancestors of Christ, Joachim and Anna”. The Church pays them special veneration as the parents of Mary and the ancestors of Jesus Christ.
Christian iconography has also expressed great devotion to the parents of the Blessed Mother of God. Quite frequently and icon will depict St. Anna with the child Mary upon her knees, or both parents will be portrayed bringing the little Mary to the temple to consecrate her to the service of God.

The Charlie Schulz Philosophy

(This is marvelous!! read carefully to receive and enjoy full effect)
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the ‘Peanuts’ comic strip.
You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just read this straight through and you’ll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies…
Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile…
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special!!
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
Easier?
The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials… the most money…or the most awards.
They simply are the ones who care the most

‘Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today.
It’s already tomorrow in Australia!’

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week August 31 – Sept. 7 by Helen Harnen in memory of her husband James Harnen, Sr.

Thank you for supporting our monthly International Dinners, we hope you have enjoyed them as much as we did and with that in mind, as an incentive for you to bring a friend or friends to join us here at the International Dinner , we would like to offer you $10.00 off your meal on any Dinner Club evening you bring a new customer(s). Thank you again and enjoy your meal.

RUMMAGE SALE: If you have any items to contribute to the Women’s Society Rummage sale, please bring them to the church or the hall. Any household items in good condition are accepted for the sale. Clothing will be accepted if they are in wearable condition and clean. Now is the time to get things together that you don’t want or need and contribute them to the sale to be held in the fall. Our thanks to Sonya Dempsey for her efforts and hours she spent removing the weeds from around the hall.
A shrub that was eaten by bug worms was taken down and new mulch was placed by a gentleman hired by Anna Magill. The cost for that project paid by the Women’s Society was $230. Plus the parish had to pay $150 to have all the other shrubs sprayed so that they would not be eaten and decayed.

CEMETERY: A bad episode happened in the cemetery. A very large old tree split and half lies across a few stones and the other half remains. Both parts must be cut and is a very difficult operation. The cost to solve this situation is $1200. It has to be done and a few head stones will have to be repaired at a cost. Your cemetery donations will help greatly for this solution. The lawn care is also $475 a month and a good job is being done with that care. Thank you in advance for your help.

SANCTUARY LIGHT: The Sanctuary Light is requested to burn this week August 10 – 17 by George Pryslak family in memory of Rose Toma.

VESTIBULE NEW LOOK: We hope all our parishioners are happy with the new carpeting in the vestibule. This was made possible by the Women’s Society donation of $1500 to have the floor covered. Our thanks to all the members of the Women’s Society for the work they do throughout the year. The Rummage Sale will be coming up again and this is how the organization raises the funds to buy necessary items for the Church. Please try to attend the Rummage sale and if you can, contribute any good items, it will be greatly appreciated.
