Blessing of Pussy Willows & Palm Anointing of Holy Oil Myrovania

ST. MARY OF EGYPT
The Fifth Sunday of Lent recalls the memory of St. Mary of Egypt, the repentant harlot. Mary tells us, first of all, that no amount of sin can keep a person from God if the sinner truly repents. In addition, St. Mary tells us that it is never too late, either in life or in lent, to repent. Christ will gladly receive all who come to Him, even at the last minute of their lives. However, their coming must be in serious and sincere repentance.

PLEASE NOTE:
The Tying of Willow Branches and Palm will be after the Stations of the Cross on Friday, April 15th. Please come to the hall and help.

SUNDAY LITURGIES DURING LENT:
WHY DO THEY SEEM LONGER?
Our Byzantine Rite prescribes that the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great is to be celebrated on all of the Sundays of Great Lent, instead of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, which is usually celebrated throughout the rest of the church year. St. Basil’s Liturgy is older and has longer priestly prayers than the St. John Chrysostom Liturgy (which was derived from the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great), and is celebrated ten times during the church year: the five Sundays of Lent (not Palm Sunday), Holy Thursday, Holy Saturday, Christmas Eve, Epiphany Eve, and on the actual Feast of St.
Basil which we celebrate on January 1

Please try to attend this event.

WILLOW BRANCHES: Please bring your Willow Btranches for Palm Sunday. We will need them for Wednesday evening to be tied with the Palm for distribution.

ADORATION: Please try to spend an hour at the grave for Adoration from after the Service Good Friday until Holy Saturday time for services. The sign up sheet is in the vestibule. It is sad that one man has to stay 3 hours because of no one else signing up. For all God does for us we could at least spend one hour at his grave.
